Bell has issued an important advisory regarding the painting of any of their helmets equipped with their new SmartLock™ system. This primarily applies to those helmets that are FIA & FIA/SNELL rated.
“Please ensure that painters do NOT remove the SmartLock™ system when painting the helmet.”
Removing the SmartLock™ can lead to excess paint being applied to the shell behind the SmartLock™, which may affect the proper closure of the visor and compromise helmet performance.
BELL recommends:-
1) All painters leave the SmartLock™ system in place and carefully mask the component during the painting process.
2)NOTE: The company is developing clear instructions for the exceptional cases where removal of the SmartLock™ may be required. Until these official guidelines are released, the system must remain in place as outlined in point 1.
This guidance applies to all helmets featuring the SmartLock™ system and is essential for maintaining product performance and safety.
