Center/Race/Cage Nets

Whatever you call them, they are a significant addition to driver safety

 LET’S CALL THEM RACING NETS…

Are an enhancement to the driver’s safety ‘cell’ system, which includes all safety apparel, helmets, harnesses, head and neck devices, padding, roll cages…

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE…

In the event of an impact the driver’s body will be significantly moved. A rear or frontal impact can move the body 6-8 inches. Racing harnesses are designed to stretch and catch this movement to prevent injuries. An offset impact (one that is not straight on) will move the body sideways and at angles the harnesses do not efficiently contain. It is easy for the body to move around the side of the seat. In addition the arms are free to move wherever the G-forces take them. Racing nets are designed to provide lateral restraint to the driver during lateral and angled lateral impacts.

RACING NETS will …

  • provide head restraint protection to a non-halo seat

  • give additional driver containment to a racing seat

  • their placement is engineered to be in the correct place to help control driver’s lateral movement

  • Most racing sanctioning bodies will mandate them, especially for cars without ‘halo’ racing seats.

  • The FIA recommends that a net be installed on either side of the driver.

A racing net will be a triangular shaped net system that is installed onto points on the roll-cage and are typically run from the back of the right side of the driver’s seat to the dash bar section of the roll cage.

OFTEN LISTED AS CENTER, SIDE, OR RIGHT-SIDE NETS
